Preparing for Events Management in Patriot Connect

Dear Colleagues,

You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an Events Management user for Patriot Connect.

On June 5, events management capabilities will go-live in Patriot Connect Summit Events. Beginning June 5, all new events must be created and managed in Patriot Connect, and all pre-existing events must be completed in TargetX by August 19. We understand this is an exceptionally busy time of year at George Mason for events management users, so please review the guidance below to help you prepare for the transition.

Patriot Connect Events Management Training 

“Patriot Connect: A Day in the Life of an Event Manager (Event Setup)” and “Patriot Connect: A Day in the Life of an Event Facilitator” training sessions will be offered June 2-15. We recommend registering for the earliest available session to avoid any last-minute scheduling conflicts.  

  • Register to secure your spot for Wave 1.5 training: 
  1. Log into MasonLEAPS. 
  2. On the Home tab, scroll to Your Action Items. 
  3. Click on the green Your Action Items heading to expand the list of all assigned action items. 
    1. Note: Please ensure you review all items on the list, which may span multiple pages, to locate assigned Patriot Connect training. 
  4. For Patriot Connect instructor-led training action items, select the Select Session button and register for your preferred session date and time. 

If someone you know believes they should be included in Wave 1.5 Events Management training but were not assigned, they should complete the following form for assistance: Patriot Connect: Recruitment and Admissions Training Request.

Self-guided materials including instructor-led training session recordings, job aids, resource guides, infographics, and videos will be available for ongoing access. Join the Patriot Connect Training Community on MS Teams to access all learning materials and to be notified of any additional upcoming live, instructor-led training sessions.

TargetX Transition

Beginning June 5, all new events must be created and managed in Patriot Connect Summit Events. However, Wave 1.5 users should continue using TargetX for the full cycle of all pre-existing and in‑progress events. All pre-existing events must be completed in TargetX by August 19. This means you will temporarily need to work in both TargetX and Patriot Connect as your events in TargetX wrap-up.

Patriot Connect Events Management Office Hours

To further support you during this transition, the Patriot Connect training team will be hosting optional office hours specifically for events management training questions. Please bring your questions about event setup and registration scenarios and/or reviewing specific training materials. The office hour sessions are as follows: 

  • June 8, 1:30-3 p.m. 
  • June 9, 10-11:30 a.m. 
  • June 11, 2:30-4 p.m. 
  • June 12, 9:30-11 a.m. 
  • June 17, 10:30am-12 p.m. 

To get the link for office hours, please register for any of the sessions in MasonLEAPS. 

These office hours are specific to Summit Events training questions and do not replace the Patriot Connect Priority Technical Support (Hypercare) that runs through June 12. Any bugs or technical issues experienced while building events in the live production environment should be reported to Hypercare. We strongly suggest that you practice or begin setting up your events as soon as you complete the training to take advantage of the Office Hours and Hypercare.
