Outlook Calendar Sync Replacement for Patriot Connect – Riva
Following thorough research and investigation, the George Mason Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE) has identified a new calendar integration tool—Riva—to address Outlook calendar sync issues associated with Einstein Activity Capture (EAC) in Patriot Connect. User acceptance testing for Riva, which will provide a more reliable and consistent calendar sync, began in late June and is currently being validated. Once testing and validation is complete, Riva will be automatically enabled for all current Student Success EAC users who utilize appointment scheduling. Users can expect an email from the Salesforce CoE with more information soon.
The transition should be seamless, with no changes to the existing functionality or user experience and no training required for users at this time. However, office hours will be offered during the Riva launch to support user questions.
Please note that Riva will only be used for Outlook calendar sync and does not affect the Outlook email sync; email syncing will continue to use EAC. Additionally, calendar sync remains available only to Student Success users at this time. Recruitment and Admissions users will be enabled for a future rollout once the Patriot Connect team has finalized licensing requirements and implemented required design changes.
Patriot Connect Support
As Recruitment and Admissions has now joined Student Success in the Patriot Connect platform, the George Mason Salesforce Center of Excellence, in partnership with Enrollment Management Technology and Mason Student Services Center (MSSC), will provide sustained, centralized support for all Patriot Connect staff and faculty users. MSSC will continue to be available to support prospective students, applicants, and current students. Bookmark the Support page of the Patriot Connect program website for quick access to resources depending on your needs. Common support topics and related resources include:
- Access to Patriot Connect – Access Request Form
- Help (technical issue/error) requests, service requests, and change requests – Patriot Connect Support Hub
- Training materials, questions, requests, and training session calendar – Patriot Connect Training Community
- Here you can find self-guided materials like job aids and videos specific to your role, such as Application Processor, Application Reviewer, Recruiter, Event Manager, and Event Facilitator.

Micro-trainings for Patriot Connect: Recruitment and Admissions
Were you unable to attend wave-based training for Patriot Connect: Recruitment and Admissions, or do you want more time to practice in the system? Starting mid-August, micro-trainings (lasting 30 to 60 minutes) will be offered throughout the fall semester to refresh your knowledge and skills in Patriot Connect. The trainings will focus on content specifically for Application Reviewers and Application Processors, but the sessions will be open to anyone regardless of your assigned user activation wave (i.e., Wave 1 or Wave 2).
Watch the Microsoft Teams Patriot Connect Training Community channel for announcements of upcoming micro-trainings and register in MasonLEAPS for these virtual sessions hosted in Microsoft Teams. To register:
- Login to MasonLEAPS.
- From the Learning menu, select Events Calendar.
- Click on the session you wish to attend to view the session details.
- Click the Request button to register.
