Name:
Daniel Minot
Role at George Mason University:
Assistant Dean for Student Success
I am a Patriot Connect Change Champion for:
College of Education and Human Development
Q: What does being a Patriot Connect Change Champion mean to you?
A: Being a Patriot Connect Change Champion means taking an active role in guiding students, staff, and faculty through this important transition. As someone deeply invested in student success, I view this role as an opportunity to advocate for and model the positive impact that Patriot Connect will have on our community at George Mason. It’s about more than just technical implementation—it’s about creating a culture of adoption and excitement around the new system of student engagement. I am committed to ensuring that all stakeholders, particularly within CEHD, understand the benefits of the platform and feel empowered to use it effectively in their work.
Q: What is your goal for Patriot Connect?
A: My goal for Patriot Connect is to leverage the system as a tool to enhance engagement and support throughout students’ journeys at George Mason. I am committed to ensuring that students at George Mason have seamless access to the resources they need to thrive academically, socially, and personally. By centralizing scheduling and referrals for services such as academic advising and student success coaching, Patriot Connect will help create a more cohesive experience for students. Ultimately, my goal is to use this system to streamline communication, foster a sense of belonging, and empower students to maximize their potential and success at George Mason.
Q: Ask me about…
A: Anything related to DC! I lived in Capitol Hill for 10+ years and love everything about DC (except the traffic!). My family and I have explored countless restaurants, museums, parks, and more. Even though I’ve since moved to Virginia, I still love being so close to DC and enjoy visiting my old neighborhood—particularly Eastern Market!
Q: What is your favorite season on campus?
A: My favorite season is fall. I’m a big fan of all things pumpkin (pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin pie, pumpkin brews!) and love when the leaves change each year. My family is from Vermont so fall foliage holds a special place in my heart and we aim to visit Vermont at least once per year.
Q: What is something you like to do outside of work?
A: I’m a dad of (almost) three—I have a three year old daughter, a daughter who will be born any day now(!), and a six year old goldendoodle. I love to spend time with my family, enjoy hiking and time outdoors, and cherish all the little moments of laughter and joy that come with parenting.
The Patriot Connect team has activated a change network of “Patriot Connect Change Champions” to support the adoption of Patriot Connect at George Mason. One to two Patriot Connect Change Champions have been identified per unit, college, or school to help drive the change within their respective groups. By ensuring both business and people readiness, the change network will be instrumental in the successful transition and adoption of Patriot Connect. The change network kicked off in September 2024 and will remain active throughout the implementation and launch of Patriot Connect. Your first point of contact for questions should be your designated Patriot Connect Change Champion.
